Disorganized

I've looked at and studied from Kaplan's and Examkrackers biology review books before. By far, TPR's biology has been the most complete, but at the same time, the hardest one to get through. One thing that really bugged me about this book (compared to Kaplan's and Examkracker's) was that the material were not presented in an organized manner. Just in the first chapter (Biochemistry and cellular respiration) you will learn and are expected to know about enzymes, cellular respiration, amino acids, protein structure, nucleophiles, digestive enzymes, equilibrium constant, oxidation/reduction, carbohydrates, cardiac muscle, etc.). Kaplan dedicates one chapter to each of those topics and assumes that the reader knows nothing or has forgotten these concepts. If you don't have a fresh memory of college biology, this review book may not be the right one for you. The most annoying part, however, was the in-text questions with answers in the footnotes. They were mostly distractive and introduced new concepts early in the book. I suggest this book to those with strong biology background or if you need additional material to reinforce your knowledge of biology for the MCAT.

i tried other books available on this site and i have to say this is the best at least for me. The book works for me , because i needed a thorough review of my biology since i took the classes 4 years ago. Its very detailed so if you prefer a more condensed version look for another book. Its nice that is in color and i prefer that the paper is not glossy . For those that didn't know this is the same book that the company gives you when taking their class.

Great Book!

I found this book highly useful! It is very thorough, reaching over 400 pages long! It is full of information, and breaks it down very nicely (the only thing I don't like is how they put the 'biochemistry' chapter first). I like that there are practice questions after each chapter, as well as 2 biology practice sections at the end.
However, I strongly recommend using a 'practice question' book along with this review. I am using the Examcrackers 1001 questions Biology book along with this one. This book gives great reviews and information, but it does not give the amount of practice questions that many students need for the MCATs....
