Very Brief with minor mistakes

First off, if you never took organic chemistry you would get lost in this book - unless you just plan to memorize reactions and some basic chemistry and then wing it, then yeah, the book's great for that. Unf. if you have taken organic chemistry for a year, you would immediately notice the drawbacks of the book: not only is the treatment very topical and knowledge-centred rather than analytical. I was lucky in having just finished a year-long course so orgo was still fresh in my mind and I didn't have to rely on this for a thorough review.
I know that many students (many of my friends, in fact) choose to skip orgo because of a fear of killing their GPA... but taking a course does what no review book can - it puts you in the right mindset to solving organic chemistry problems. Also, the treatment of spectroscopy is very topical - on my actual exam, it required much more in-depth knowledge than a page or two on H-NMR in this book simply didn't provide.
Needless to say, without at least some study of mechanisms it's easy to feel like you are losing the ground under your feet. My suggestion, if you are still not convinced that you are better off taking a course, is to purchase:
Organic Chemistry as a Second Language 3rd edition (both I and II) by Klein, which run for 82 bucks total. If you complete these two workbooks, and then pick up either this book or the examkrackers' one, you will be set for the orgo section.
