Go with the bibles
By Claire
This is my review of the 2012 edition of this book. I really wish someone had stopped me from wasting time on Princeton Review during my study process. Here is my two cents on this book vs. The power score bibles.

I am currently prepping for the June 2012 LSAT and bought this princeton review in December to begin the process of studying. I was looking for a comprehensive understanding of the overall test to introduce myself to the logic of it. I also bought the "Official LSAT Prep" from LSAC. After doing copious research I also went ahead and signed up for the Powerscore full length prep course that begins in mid April. While doing research and after reading numerous advice blogs from various sources, I realized that many professionals recommend NOT overlapping your study process with different prep companies to avoid learning different techniques. For example, Princeton review teaches you to read the question stems in logical reasoning BEFORE the stimulus. While Powerscore offers an extremely valid reason for NOT doing so.

I found that this princeton review has confusing wording when you are trying to introduce yourself to the test. Sometimes I found myself re-reading sentences just to understand what the heck the author was trying to convey. In addition, it doesn't have REAL LSAT questions so the examples are extremely over-simplified. We are preparing for a very hard test, you might as well practice with questions that match the level of difficulty we will face on test day!!

I started over in my study process with the power score bibles (Logical Reasoning and Logic Games) and my level of understanding has doubled. The language and writing style is easier to understand so I am actually grasping concepts quicker than with the princeton review. In addition, the bibles have nothing but real LSAT questions from previous tests and they even tell you which tests they are from so you can avoid duplicating questions when you proctor your practice tests.

Go with the bibles! You won't regret it. I chose the logical reasoning and logic games bibles because they are the most difficult sections. The LSAC 'Official LSAT Prep' was sufficient for me to study for the reading comprehension and essay sections.

Update: 8/22/12
I am completely satisfied with my score. And I definitely credit the powerscore concepts and techniques with some of the things that boosted my score, especially in the logic games!

Bad review book for LSAT
By Barry B. Huang
I got this book 2 weeks ago, I am about 3/4 way through the whole book, so I think I am fairly qualified to rate this book now.

It sucks! As with most Princeton Review materials, this book is really chatty, it talks a lot, but gives you very little information.

The overall oganization of the book is poor. Main points are not emphasized enough.

And here is the worst part, I don't think their technique is all that useful on the test. Most of their strategies are really time consuming, if anyone follows the steps they outlined, this person would be lucky if he can complete half the exam. Oh yeah, the book constantly tells you to skip questions. That is not a good strategy to me, to skip things. The two practice LSAT included with the book are not real exams, they are made up by Princeton Review.

This book is okay for overview, to give you an idea about LSAT, but to really prepare youself to be ready for LSAT, you should look elsewhere.
