Great source of questions - watch out for typos!
By GMAT Club (Expert)
Kudos to Princeton Review team for putting out so many questions about this unbeatable price. Obviously, it will never replace The Official Guide for GMAT Review, which contains real GMAT questions, but it will provide what OG cannot - targeted practice. It is also a good source of additional (100 questions based on about 20 various graphs/charts/etc). Integrated Reasoning questions if you are looking for these (MGMAT IR book as well Kaplan's Premier 2013 books have a decent quantity as well).
The massive book starts with a diagnostic test (37q and 41v questions). There is a total of 55 different "drills" targeting various interesting and often neglected areas.
The format for Math is not just standard multiple choice, but actually 50% of the quant questions are Data Sufficiency, so one can practice both questions types - PS and DS - that's a plus!
Book Contents and Question Split:
- Quant: Arithmetic (terminology, percents, multiples, fractions, ratios, factors, decimals) - 70 questions
- Quant: Algebra (equations and inequalities, plugging in, pita, quadratics, must be true, Yes/No DS, roots, interest, functions, powers) - 163 questions
- Quant: Statistics, Probability, and Combinations (averages, median, mode, range, stdev, rate, factorials, probability, permutations and combinations, groups) - 116 questions
- Quant: Geometry (lines and angles, triangles, quadraliterlas, circles, 3D figures, coordinate geometry, inscribed figures and shaded regions) - 198 questions
Quant Subtotal: 447
- Verbal: RC - 30 passages and 150 questions (5 questions per passage)
- Verbal: SC (subject/verb agreement, tenses, pronouns, parallel, modifiers, idioms, mixed) - 175 questions
- Verbal: CR (weaken, strengthen, assumption, inference, evaluate, ID reasoning, resolve/explain, mixed) - 159 questions
Verbal Subtotal: 484
Total: 934 + diagnostic test (78) = 1,009 + IR section = 1037?
I am giving Kudos for these sections: factorials, probability, combinations, groups, Yes/No DS, assumption, and parallel structure questions. These areas are often neglected by test prep companies and I am thrilled to see a guide that actually addresses these.
Issues I have with this book:
- ERRORS, ERRORS, ERRORS - comes up as an issue in the previous edition. I have not compared every question to see if all typos have been fixed but from experience I can speak that some will be fixed and new ones will be created.
- Random House used lower quality recycled paper
- No new questions (actually 3 questions were removed; one in Statistics section and 2 in Coordinate Geometry)
- RC section is structured by topic (humanities, science, etc rather than by type of questions)
- Verbal questions are a bit off (esp. CR) but that's to be expected
- Could use more 700-level questions but there are a few in each section

Good Luck,

A huge number of questions but typos, typos, typos
By Sean M. Chandler
It's hard to beat getting 1000+ questions for the price, but it's also frustrating seeing so many typos in a book like this. I mean, it's Princeton Review, for crying out loud. So when you run across the occasional problem that can't be solved because of a typo or editing mistake (mostly in math), it gets really annoying. What do I mean? You'll run across things like questions that ask you to "find the area of the shaded region" on a figure that doesn't have a shaded region. You'll find figures that are lacking necessary measurements due to publisher/editor error. You will find things like the book telling you "110+12=120" or that "any odd number minus an odd number equals another odd number" (I s*** you not. It's in there. Embarrassing.) And don't even get me started on the book's failure to clarify exponents. Several times, I didn't even know a number was supposed to be an exponent until I consulted the answers. The overwhelming majority of these errors are limited to math, but you'll find a handful in the sentence correction section and even one typo in a Princeton Review book is not okay. I have found nearly 20-30 errors so far. It's just so obvious that PR was trying to beat all the other publishers to the punch by getting their New GMAT book out as quickly as possible that a fair amount of the editing seemingly got snubbed. How this book has gotten so many 4-star ratings is beyond me. I would think people would expect better of The Princeton Review.

additional practice problems close to the official GMAT style
By smallphi
I am a quant GMAT/GRE tutor and will talk only about the quant portion of the book. It provides additional practice problems for GMAT. In my opinion, from all prep companies out there, Princeton Review generates problems that are the closest to the official ones. This book by itself will be insufficient preparation but combine it with the Official Guide, Quantitative Review, and the 1014 Practice problems for GRE (Princeton Review) and you will have sufficient number of problems for preparation.
There are some typos, like every 15th question. In most cases I am able to correct the typo by reading the solution. Some questions sound unclear and ambiguous (which never happens on official GMAT problems) but that is very rare. Some questions have plain wrong solution but that is very very very rare.
One thing I don't like about the solutions is that they always plug in numbers, even in questions where a more time efficient approach would be to write a simple equation and solve it. I guess Princeton Review assumes their average reader cannot solve equations, so a simple algebra problem is converted into plug in arithmetics that has to be repeated several times untill the right answer is hit and it takes 3 times the time. Plug in numbers is a valuable approach in specific types of questions or ones where your algebra fails, but to do almost every problem with plug in numbers will waste a lot of time.
